Updates About Li'ora After ONE Month!!!

Finally, I am blogging again. Many apologies for not updating my blog for a month, was pretty busy with work and studies, having to go through some personal transitions here and there. =) First up, I am currently waiting ernestly for my hubby to be back from America! Egoh has been away for one wk already, there is another one more week to go! Yay!!!

Li'ora has grown cuter by the day. To date, she is now 11 months 4 days old. How time flies! Have been teaching her how to speak and do simple hand gestures. She is now able to do 'bao bao' after every meal (to indicate that she is full) with her two hands patting on her chest (ok, I know it is the wrong place, she should be patting her stomach, but at least this is a gd start!!), do simple hi-5s with people, and do the hand action of bye and hi (which I can't differentiate the two yet) Haha.

As for speaking, she can say "yes" (which is a bit airy), mama, papa, nan nan (for milk) and star, coupled with the 'opening and closing' of her fists when singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!!! So cute... She really talks alot, but I don't really understand 50% of what she is saying. Hee

She has also been exploring shopping malls. It is now so much easier to bring her out since she is able to sit in a baby chair while we eat our meals. Putting her in a pram makes shopping a breeze, though I must say that her sitting 'ethiquette' can be better.

Check this out!

Two legs up on the pram handle! Aiyoh, she is a girl lei, this is very 'chor lor'...

Li'ora scratching her foot as she is in deep thought. I wonder what she is really thinking about. Hm...

Li'ora: "Mummy, I am bored. Can we get out of here? We have been in Giant for the past 30 mins!!!"

After teaching her and reminding her many times to sit properly, we finally saw some improvement... Only one leg up on the pram bar now. Yeah!

Li'ora also has this thing about sititng in the car seat. She totally dislikes it, even though I have splurged $400 plus on a baby car seat for her. Which in my opinion, is super comfy!
Look at her 'sian' face...

After attempts to cheer up her... Slight interest now...

Now things become very different the moment she is out of the car and in a book store, be it Times, Popular, Borders etc. She has taken after her daddy on this. She simply loves books! Even more than her toys... See her smiling face!
Reading a book! But it was the wrongside up... Haha...

The toughest wk yet for me in Li'ora's 11 mths was 2 wks ago. By God's grace, she has only gotten fever twice despite the jabs and 1 stomach flu which happened 2 wks ago. From 7am to 1pm that day, she shitted 5 times! I knew something was not right after the third time...
Her shit was sticky and 'gooey'. Li'ora has always been a brave girl, even though she did not cry much (but was very cranky), I knew she was in discomfort. Look at her buttocks! So red...

I took the opportunity to air her bum while she was sleeping. Later, after visiting the doctor, I found out that she had some bacteria and that explained why she kept shitting. Because the shit was very acidic, it ate into her skin, giving it a red irritation. Thank God, after putting the cream which the doctor gave, her bum went back to normal. =) Boy, I would be more careful about the food she eats in the future, especially food cooked outside. Her immune system as a baby is not so strong after all.

Anyway, moving on... A glimpse of her two lower teeth!!! Which to date, still look as if they are still of the same length as in this picture. I wonder why these two lower teeth are grwoing so slowly. They started to pop when she is just turning 10 months old. I am so glad that her teething initial stage is over (but wait, she still has many teeth not out yet!!!), because she would wake up 3 to 4 times a night from 9pm to 6am. It can be rather draining indeed.

Finally, some pictures of Li'ora holding her own milk bottle as she drinks milk. Frankly, she does not drink alot of milk for her age, but this is made up for her huge appetite for banana, payaya, bread, poridge, biscuits etc.
She never fails to amuse me with her 'milk bottle holding' skills. Haha and her perpetual need to raise one of her legs (or both) when drinking her milk... She got to learn now to be more lady like! =)

A New Way of Discipline & A New Haircut

Just yesterday, Li'ora was caned (tapped lightly) on her hand. She is getting naughtier these days. While sitting inside the highchair during meal times, she would lean forward to lick the table. When I say 'No!', she would pause, look at me, think and then lean forward to lick the table again! Just when I thought she is thinking if she should 'repent', she is thinking if she should disregard her mummy's order and go ahead to lick the table!

Well, like what the Bible says, we are to bless our children with our hands, and discipline with the rod, a cane was used. She was not caned by me though, but by my father. But we only attempted that after she linked 5 times, no matter what we say. What was her reaction? Well, nothing. OK la, after 2 minutes, she cried a little and then started to make loud noises of displeasure and complain. At least... she did not smile and thought we were playing with her a tapping game. =(

If you have been following me on tweeter, you will recall that Li'ora is teething, and has been waking up every 1 to 2 hours every night. This is how it goes during a typical night: she would wake up, look around and when fail to see anyone, cry for attention. I will then come into the room, pat her to sleep, and then leave the room SILENTLY. This continues for hours from 8pm to 6.45am/7.30am. Have been praying that Li'ora will be so difficult and thank God, starting from last Friday, she has been sleeping through, only waking up 3 times in the night, and asking for milk at 4plus am to 5am. God is good and He is a prayer answering God!

Besides a newly adopted discipline method, Li'ora also had a new hair cut. It was done free by my mum's hairstylist at Katong Shopping Centre. This service will be rendered free to all clients as long as the children as below 7 years old. The haircut took only 10 minutes! She was CRYING and WAILING all the way. Only managed to cut her fringe and abit of the hair at the back.

Anyway, this is how Li'ora looked like in her prvious haircut... These photos were taken at my dad's birthday at Crystal Jade. =)

NEW haircut!

Feeling relaxed in my bed!

Amused by my keyboard toy...

A picture taken with Eugene's brother, Kelvin...

In my walker... Dancing!

I am going to eat my poriddge soon! Happiness!

Li'ora is now eating porridge twice a day, drink lots of milk (every 3 hours), bread, biscuits, Vitamin C and drinks her fresh apple juice. I am so excited to see her new tooth!

ADVERSITY MOTIVATES - JOHN C. MAXWELL

Nothing can motivate a person like adversity. Olympic diver Pat McCormick discusses this point: “I think failure is one of the great motivators. After my narrow loss in the 1948 trials. I knew how really good i could be. It was the defeat that focused all my concentration on my training and goals.” McCormick went on to win two gold medals in the Olympics in Helsinki in 1952 and another two in Melbourne four years later.

If you can step back from the negative circumstances facing you, you will be able to discover their positive benefits. That is almost always true; you simply have to be willing to look for them – and not take the adversity you are experiencing too personally.

If you lose your job, think about the resilience you’re developing. If you try something daring and survive, evaluate what you learned about yourself – and how it will help you take on new challenges. If a bookstore gets your order wrong, figure out whether it’s an opportunity to learn a new skill. And if you experience a train wreck in our career, think of the maturity it’s developing in you.

Besides, Bill Vaughan maintains that “in the game of life it’s a good idea to have a few early losses, which relieves you of the pressure of trying to maintain an undefeated season.”

Always measure an obstacle next to the size of the dream you’re pursuing.
It’s all in how you look at it.
EMBRACE THE ADVERSITIES YOU MAY BE FACING IN YOUR LIFE AND RETRAIN YOURSELF TO VIEW THEM AS BENEFICIAL.

Li'ora's First Personal Book!

A few weeks ago, I had a pleasant surprise! Santhi, a ministry zone supervisor from JAMs church, gave Li'ora a present. It was a book cum photoalbum, which illustrate Li'ora growing up from 1 month old to 6 months old.

Let me take you through on this book...

Cover page! Li'ora at 1 month old, boy, she looks really different now. And prettier now too! Haha.

Thanks so much Santhi! What a great present! Li'ora reads it almost everyday!!! =)
